Laguna Pollone is a hidden gem in the Los Glaciares National Park, tucked away in the northern sector near El Chaltén. While most hikers head straight to Laguna de los Tres or Laguna Capri, those who venture toward Pollone will be rewarded with tranquility, fewer crowds, and sweeping views of the Fitz Roy massif from a different angle.
It’s an easy to moderate hike, perfect for a relaxed day in nature or for those looking to get off the beaten path without committing to a technical trek.
Where It Begins
The trail begins at Piedra del Fraile, which is reached by following a 2-hour walk from the Río Eléctrico trailhead, about 16 km north of El Chaltén. The hike to Laguna Pollone can be combined with an overnight at Piedra del Fraile or done as a long day hike if you start early.

When to Go

Tips for the Hike
- Bring cash if you plan to camp at Piedra del Fraile (private property)
- Pack lunch and water—there are no services past the trailhead
