Departing from Ushuaia in a sailboat and ending at the same point, during navigation you will see local fauna like sea leopards, sea lions, austral dolphins, whales, penguins, condors, foxes and guanacos while you feel the essence of local fjords, meeting local fishermen or only spending time enjoying the most savage place of austral Patagonia.
Then, you will go through mythic mountains like Mount Shipton and Darwin and other ones still unnamed. Gordon Island, and part of Hoste Island are perfect to practice skiing. Darwin Range is much steeper than Gordon Island and it is perfect to go up and climb its mountains. Their height is around 2000 – 2500 mts above the sea.
This tour is a real expedition, there are amazing places that we will be through, with several stops at the shore, depending on weather and land conditions.
The sailboat will be chosen according to the amount of people in the group.
The Darwin range extends in a west-east direction, and it is in the southwestern portion of Tierra del Fuego Island, in Chile. It is part of the longest Andes range and includes the highest mountains in Tierra del Fuego. The expedition to Gordon Island and Darwin Range is one of the most adventurous and pristine excursions in Patagonia, a unique and memorable experience. You can combine valleys, glaciers, and big slopes, and if you are searching for a specific aim, you can spend several nights in the mountain!
The journey starts in Ushuaia city, on the Beagle Channel. We depart very early, navigating until Puerto Williams. If weather allows, we can continue to Darwin Range in a 20 hour navigation. The next day, we go into the north arm of the Beagle Channel, where we can be amazed by the French Mount´s hillside, the Romanche Glacier and other ones that end in the sea.
Today our navigation continues between Chilean fjords, looking for appropriate lands to practice ski or trekking. If you wish to ski and there is enough snow -this depends on the season- Romanche fjord offers spectacular mountain sides to glide in places where probably anybody have been yet. Another option is to visit Gordon Island, Tres Brazos Bay and the inside Darwin Range fjords, like Pia Fjord and Garibaldi fjord, where the views of the glaciers will take your breath away!

This day we sail back to Puerto Williams.
At your arrival to Ushuaia, a transfer will be waiting to take you to the airport. Optionally, you can add other activities in Tierra del Fuego (from Ushuaia) or connect to other destinations such as El Calafate and El Chaltén. We’ll be happy to help you plan your trip!
