Punta Tombo & Peninsula Valdes

Today, we will visit the Provincial Wildlife Reserve Peninsula Valdes, UNESCO World Heritage Site.

After driving for about one houre, we arrive in Puerto Piramides, where we go on a boat tour to do whale watching ( Southern Right Whales -Eubalaena australis). The whales are between June and early December;  if it’s between January and March, the alternative is to watch Southern Sea lions (Otaria flavescens) and cormorants. There is no navigation in Puerto Piramides during April and May.

Around noon we continue with our excursion towards the Punta Delgada Lighthouse complex, where we have the chance of walking down to the beach to take a closer look of the elephant seals. We continue then to Punta Cantor, to observe the peninsula’s Atlantic coastline, and we reach the initial stretch of the Valdes Inlet (Caleta Valdes).

After the observation and interpretation of the coastal geology, we drive back to the Ameghino Isthmus, where we do a stop over at the Visitor Centre. Along the way we have good chances of viewing animals such as guanacos, rheas, foxes, cavies, armadillos and skunks, among others.

We will leave Puerto Madryn in the morning to visit the greatest continental Reserve of Magellan’s penguin, imagine walking between more than a half million penguins, this is what we will do when we arrive at Punta Tombo, with the necessary time to know its habitat and its way of life.

Our tour guide will accompany you during the long walk that takes 2 hours and he will give you an Interpretation about the life of the penguins, discovering every detail about Patagonia.

On the way back to our hotel, we will go to Trelew to visit the Museum of the dinosaurs Egidio Feruglio, considered the most important of South America. This museum is well known for its collection of Patagonians fossils and dinosaur’s skeletons.

Full Day Excursion, going through 400 Km. approx. (Departure time around 8.00 Hs) The visit of Punta Tombo is carried out from the middle of September to the middle of April (season of Penguins), Trelew is carried outduring all the year.

In the morning, we will go to a picturesque beach on the coast, where we will live an unforgettable experience with the Sea Lions. We will put on our wetsuits, hoods and boots, and after a couple of minutes of boat ride – with the assistance and advice of our guide- we will jump into the water to enjoy the adventure!

These curious and playful animals swim around the humans, interacting with them in an incredible and friendly way, speaking the language of nature, surrounded by the magnificent scenery of the Atlantic Patagonia.

Transfer to the airport in Trelew, to board the flight out.
