You can get to El Chalten by bus from El Calafate, which is 234 km away and has an airport that connects with Buenos Aires and other domestic destinations. From El Chalten, you can take a shuttle service to Lago del Desierto (about 45 minutes), where you will board a boat that will take you to the Aguas Arriba Lodge (about 20 minutes). Alternatively, you can hike from El Chalten to Lago del Desierto (about 5 hours), following a scenic trail along the Rio de las Vueltas.
