To make the best out of your Argentina Honeymoon, we suggest you first get familiarized with the main highlights of the country. For this purpose and as a kick-off, you can take a look at our Top 10 Argentina Tourist Attractions post . Do the same with Chile in case you’d like to visit both countries during your trip.
Second, we suggest you to learn which travel styles match better with a honeymoon in Argentina. It’s clear that not everybody has the same preferences at the time of travel. One of the great things about Argentina (and Chile as well) is that they count with lots of contrasts and experiences for almost any kind of taste. It’s important to highlight that even though both countries have thousands of kilometers of oceanfront, these places are not “beach destinations” such as those you can find in the Caribbean, Polinesia, etc.. In case you like beaches in that sense, we highly recommend you to combine Argentina/Chile with Brazil: the distance is not so big in comparison with other tropical countries, and Brazil is all about happiness and beaches :-).
As a kick-off, we would like to share with you some of the travel styles that could match the best with Argentina. If yours doesn’t appear on the list, don’t worry: we love authenticity and would love to hear about your preferences. We design tailor-made trips and want to help you so your Argentina Honeymoon (or Chile) is the best trip you can ever have!
There is no specific place or time of day to have a little romance in your trip. You can enjoy the sunrise on a balloon over Cafayate, where you can also visit vineyards, or waking up in a campsite near Mount Fitz Roy.
You can also enjoy each other in a private lunch after a kayaking experience in the Lake District. Witnessing the sunset in an Estancia surrounded by an inspiring atmosphere is heart-melting. Last, but not least of our recommendations for romantic activities for your honeymoon in Argentina is the Full Moon Walking Tour in Iguazú Falls, where you’ll get to see the Natural Wonder with unique light.
You have many options to enjoy your honeymoon in Argentina in a very exclusive way. From Salta to Ushuaia there are hotels, vineyards, and experiences that can fit this style of trip. We highly recommend the all-inclusive programs in premium lodges such as the Eolo Hotel in Calafate. The hotel is conveniently located halfway between the city of El Calafate and Los Glaciares National Park, yet far from the commotion of the tourist activity in the area. The 10,000 acres property is a paradise for horseback riding, mountain bike rides, trekking, bird watching and, of course, to fully enjoy the subtle elegance of the installations.
Also enjoy Casa de Uco Resort in Mendoza, where you can live and breath wine culture, in an unbeatable setting at the foothills of the Andes Mountains. In Torres del Paine, Chile, Explora Patagonia is the most exclusive hotel. All of their programs include accommodation, transfers from and to the airport, meals, and beverages, and a menu of more than 40 exploration routes designed by their own outdoors team.
If you enjoy sailing, there are cruises options. The Spirit of the Glaciers, by Marpatag Cruises, is an expedition that explores nature in-depth to unfold the true essence of this Patagonian region. Sailing onboard the elegant and exclusive M/V Santa Cruz, specially designed for this journey, offers a perfect combination of high-end comfort and gourmet cuisine creating a truly memorable experience. Another option is Australis Cruises, a luxury expedition cruise company that navigates through the fjords and channels of Tierra del Fuego, located in Chilean-Argentinean Patagonia.
For an aerial view of the most incredible places of Argentina you can hire a helicopter to see from above Buenos Aires city and Delta of Tigre, also Tierra del Fuego and its fjords, and the most impressive one: Iguazú Falls.
Antique culinary techniques, like “Asado”, are the Star Plates in Buenos Aires, but it’s not the only option the best restaurants in Buenos Aires can offer. Since Christopher Columbus arrived in Latin-American Immigration only continued to grow in important cities as Buenos Aires. As a result of this cultural mixture, our gastronomic offer became one of the bests, giving us the title of Iberoamerican Capital of Gastronomy Culture in 2017, by the Iberoamerican Gastronomy Academy.
Experience wine tours in Mendoza, which has the best Malbec in the world; or a wine tour in Cafayate, Salta, where they have Torrontes, endemic wine of Argentina, and the best empanadas in the country. In continental Patagonia, you should try the star plates: Lamb and Trout. You will find them in many different recipes from pasta to smoked fillet.
In Ushuaia, we suggest the spider crab and black hake, the specialities of the city. You can even do an excursion to fish your spider crab. In Buenos Aires, you can’t miss The Argentine Experience and Fogon, where you will learn to do your empanadas and everything you need to know about Argentina’s culinary.
If seeing wildlife and enjoying nature is a must for your honeymoon in Argentina, there are several places that you can not miss. For ocean wildlife, in my opinion, the best place to visit is Peninsula Valdes. We also suggest the Chilean Fjords and Antarctica.
You will see different species of penguins, whales, sea elephants, seals, killer whales, and all kinds of incredible animals. In the steppe and mountain areas of Patagonia, you will see Guanacos as a part of the landscapes. Foxes, condors and hidden Pumas are some of the animals that you may see through all the Andes, especially in Patagonia.
With an area of about 1 million and 300 thousand acres, Iberá National Park is the largest reservoir of nature and biodiversity of Argentina. The area is a meeting point of different ecosystems which enables the development of a wide variety of flora and fauna with more than 4.000 species.
The best thing about Iberá National Park is that seeing the fauna on its natural habitat is ensured. This Park works in the reintroduction of endangered indigenous species. Some of these species can be seen also in the area of Iguazu Falls, along with many other tropical species and a lot of birds.
There are many areas along the Andes for honeymooners who love adventure and trekking. El Chaltén is a small village 220 km north from El Calafate (Glacier Perito Moreno), in Santa Cruz province. It is the trekking capital in Argentina. The most popular hikes are to “Laguna de Los Tres” and “Cerro Torre”.
Two hours away from Puerto Natales, Chile, and five hours west from El Calafate, Argentina, Torres del Paine National Park is home to one of the best hikes in Patagonia: the “W Trek”. It consists of a 4-5 days circuit in which you visit the main valleys of the Park. These valleys are three: the valley of the Rio Asencio, which leads to the base of the Towers, the French valley, with amazing views on the Horns, and the Grey valley, right next to the Glacier and Lake of the same name.
Situated in the northwest of Argentinean Patagonia, Bariloche, and the Lakes District is definitively a great place to combine hiking and adventure. Plenty of forests, mountains, rivers, and lakes, the “south American alps” invited to stay for at least one week. One of the best ways to discover this area is to rent a car and combine trekking with scenic roads.
In Ushuaia and Chilean Fjords, the options are a lot too!! All of these fascinating trekking trails con be combined with other activities such as Rafting, Kayaking, Mountaineering, mountain biking, off-road circuits, and many other activities that can be done near every touristic area in each province.
