Jaguar, Yaguareté, Panthera Onca … the biggest cat of South America has received many names, and it has been present throughout the history and legends of the local inhabitants. Nowadays, the best place in the world for Jaguar watching is probably Pantanal, Brazil. Besides Jaguars, Pantanal is famous for its diverse and incredible wildlife, including species such as ocelots, pumas, giant anteaters, giant otters, tapirs, anacondas, and monkeys. On the other hand, right in the heart of the Atlantic Patagonia, you’ll find Peninsula Valdes. This UNESCO site is an ocean wildlife sanctuary for whales, orcas, penguins, and many other incredible species. The idea for this tour is to include both destinations, adding Iguazu Falls and Buenos Aires as the perfect transition destinations. The right time to come for this tour is between September and November. This is flexible tour and can be adapted to your needs and preferences.
This tour offers the chance of having a fantastic overview of the natural contrasts and biodiversity of South America. It’s a flexible program, which can be adapted to your needs and preferences. We invite you to get in touch and to contact us to start planning your next adventure!
Arrival at Cuiabá’s airport in the morning, in the area of Pantanal. If you need flights or the previous logistics, we will be very happy to help you. Reception and transfer to the Pantanal. After 1:30 hs we reach Poconé, where our wildlife adventure begins. We’ll drive through the Transpantaneira road, which goes across Northern Pantanal. Arrival at our traditional ranch (Pouso Alegre or similar), and after lunch we’ll go for a walk in order to see some dry land mammals and birds. At night we’ll go on a safari in order to try to see animals such Ocelots, Giant Anteaters, Tamandua, Raccoons, etc.
Meals included: lunch and dinner.
NOTE: the animals respond to natural phenomena that go beyond human control. This means that even though it’s very likely to see some of them, these encounters are not guaranteed.
Today, we’ll enjoy the activities at the area of Pouso Alegre lodge. The lodge is in a 10.000 hectares reserve, where we will explore its amazing wildlife.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
We’ll continue driving along the Transpantaneira road until reaching Porto Jofre. On the way, we’ll do some photo-stops. Check-in at a loge on the riverbank of the legendary Cuiabá river. After lunch we’ll go on a boat safari in search of Jaguars and other Wildlife!
Meals included today: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The idea for these days is to focus on the boat safaris on the Cuiabár River and its tributaries, in order to optimize our chances of Jaguar watching. However, Jaguar watching is not the only attraction at the Meeting of the Waters State Park: this is a place with Giant River Otters and other great species.
Meals included today: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Transfer from Porto Jofre to Cuiabá airport. Our Jaguar watching and wildlife expedition in Pantanal reaches the end, but there is a lot more to explore!
Flight to Foz do Iguassu and transfer to the hotel in the same city.
Meals included today: breakfast
In the morning we’ll visit the brazilian side of the falls, where are around % 20 of the waterfalls. The panoramic views from this side are great. Afterward we continue to the Argentinean side, which is the biggest part and where we go tomorrow.
Accommodation in Puerto Iguazu (Argentina).
This day is dedicated to visit the National Park Iguazu, where we will be able to approach, see and feel most of the jumps (with the Devil’s Throat as the pearl of the Park) in a very near way.
There, we will walk along the 3 different circuits: Upper Circuit, Lower Circuit and Devil Throat´s. During this day, an adventurous excursion will take part in our journey as well: “The Great Adventure”, in which we’ll navigate the Lower Iguazu River, heading towards the waterfalls area.
Return to Puerto Iguazu.
Transfer to the airport and flight to Buenos Aires.
In the afternoon, private city tour visiting the main highlights of the „Paris of Latin America“.
Accommodation in Buenos Aires, in the neighborhood of your preference.
Free day in Buenos Aires to enjoy at leisure, or to opt for one of the many alternatives available in this beautiful city.
In the evening, tango show with dinner at the iconic “Café de los Angelitos“.
Morning free to continue enjoying Buenos Aires (which deserves more days, in case you count with time).
In the afternoon, transfer to the airport in order to fly to Trelew and continue with our wildlife tour.
Arrival in Trelew and transfer to the hotel in Puerto Madryn.
Accommodation in Puerto Madryn.
After breakfast, we will go to Península Valdés, Natural World Heritage sites by UNESCO, which for its unique characteristics homes a variety of marine and terrestrial fauna hardly ever seen at any other place.
We will navigate for around 1:30 hs to see whales (from a very close distance) in Puerto Pirámides. The whales season is from June to November. Then, we’ll head to the penguin rookery of Estancia San Lorenzo, which is home to a colony of thousands of Magellan Penguins. After walking among these sympathetic animals for some time, we continue to Punta Norte, where are sea lions and other animals.
Return to Puerto Pirámides (inside Península Valdés) and overnight.
The idea for this day is to continue exploring the Peninsula and incorporate activities of your preference.
For instance, kayaking among whales.
If your travel date has a coincidence with the presence of the orcas, we can organize (in advance) an excursion in order to try to see some of them. What is particularly interesting is to see them hunting on the shores, with the intentional stranding technique.
Besides these animals, Peninsula Valdes is also home to guanacos, rheas (ñandú), sea elephants, different kinds of birds, armadillos (piche), foxes, maras, and many other beautiful animals!
Return to Puerto Madryn and overnight.
Transfer to the airport in Trelew.
Optionally, you can snorkel with sea lions through an unforgettable experience in Punta Loma. Likewise, there are other optional excursions in this area related to wildlife and culture.
In extension to the “Jaguar watching, whale, and penguins wildlife tour” we can add other destinations such as El Calafate, Ushuaia, or other destinations of Argentina and Chile, incorporating different kinds of activities. Let us know your preferences and we will be very happy to help you plan the best possible trip!
