Bustling and dynamic, melancholic and passionate – Buenos Aires reflects the many contrasts and the variety that defines Argentina. South America’s multicultural city that “never sleeps” offers possibilities for everyone: for those who love the nightlife it has shows and events almost at every hour, and for those who prefer a calmer rhythm it has corners that invite to walk through the world of Borges or a scenery recreated by a Tango song. Full of colours and contrasts, with Inca’s reminiscences and adobe houses that seem to be an extension of the earth, the Northwest is considered one of the most complete attractions of Argentina. It’s divided into four main geographic sub-regions, which are very different and can be explored in many different ways: The Yungas (local jungle), the Valleys, the Quebradas (Gorges), and the famous Puna (Altiplano). TOUR DESCRIPTION
The history of Tigre dates back to a port on the banks of “Las Conchas” river, named after the seashells debris that was abundant in the riverbed. The name “Tigre, refers to the “yaguareté” or American tiger a dangerous animal that prowled the area threatening the population. The delta consists of about five thousand islands and three hundred and fifty streams and rivers.
The area boomed at the end of the XIX century with the high society and politics meeting at the Tigre Hotel and Tigre Club.
Rowing is one of the main attractions of the area. Several Rowing Clubs can be found in the area. President Sarmiento was a great developer of the area, he owned a house in one of the islands. The current delta population is 3000 residents and its islands are exploited to supply the cellulose, paper & plywood industries. As from those days a visit to the delta is a “must” to all visitors to Buenos Aires. You will have your own personal tour guide and driver leading you to Tigre town.
