There are several ways to enjoy a road trip: in traditional cars, 4×4, motorcycles, bicycles, campervans, trucks, etc. And once in a while, the way of transportation can become an attraction itself. This is the case with the Baquet Tour, a classic car road trip in Argentina that takes you into the heart of the country—behind the wheel of a machine that feels more alive than most people do on Monday mornings.
Classic cars, Motorcycles, and Roads
Robert Livingston, an enthusiast who’s spent years not just admiring classic cars, but also driving around the most remotes areas of Argentina (also with his motorcycle), had the idea of restoring old cars and put them into value.
Alongside a small group of partners and master mechanics, Robert has dedicated himself to the art of reviving pre-war cars, giving them a second life and preparing them for the open roads of Argentina. These are not museum pieces—they’re made to move, roar, and get dusty. And so, the idea was clear: “Why not take these incredible machines back where they belong—on the road?”
The original road-plan turned out to be Northern Argentina, a land of dramatic contrasts, colonial towns, wine valleys, salt flats, rainforests, and altitudes over 12,000 feet. Robert and his team dreamed up a route that would challenge drivers, reward them with breathtaking views, and most of all—create stories worth retelling. In addittion, he also found other areas of Argentina (Mendoza, Patagonia, etc) as ideal places to drive around with these amazing machines.
What’s a Baquet?
The “Baquet” is more than a car. It’s a throwback to the 1930s racing era, a time when cars were stripped to the essentials and courage was the most important safety feature. With two bucket seats, an open body, exposed wheels, and a low-slung attitude, the Baquet isn’t built for comfort. It’s built for connection—with the machine, the road, and the land you drive through.
In Argentina, the Baquet has a special place in motorsport history, tied to the roots of Turismo Carretera, the country’s iconic endurance racing culture. It’s a symbol of grit and elegance, much like the landscapes it now traverses once more.
