Embark on the Skorpios III Cruise, an extraordinary voyage through the breathtaking fjords and glaciers of Patagonia. This cruise offers an unforgettable adventure from Puerto Natales, navigating the pristine waters fed by the Pacific Ocean and the Southern Ice Field, exploring the awe-inspiring beauty of Chilean Patagonia.
The Skorpios III is designed to provide an intimate and immersive experience of Patagonia’s natural wonders. With a capacity of only 92 passengers, this cruise ensures personalized service and a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Departing from Puerto Natales, you’ll navigate through the narrow channels and fjords of the Kaweskar Route, named after the indigenous people who once inhabited these lands.
At 09 AM, we’ll start the embarkation on the Skorpios III , and we’ll depart at noon. At 4.30 pm, we’ll disembark in Caleta Juarez at Guardamiro Fjord, and on board small zodiacs we’ll get close to a colony of Sea Elephants. Back in the cruise, we’ll continue sailing through the scenic Patagonian fjords and canals, including the Kirke, Morla Vicuña, Unión, and Collingwood channels.
In the early morning, the cruise continues north through the Pitt Channel with Chatham Island on the port side, entering the scenic Guillard Fjord. The ship navigates through the fjord, providing stunning views as you approach Guillard Glacier. After reaching the glacier, you’ll disembark for a hike, allowing you to get up close to the ice and appreciate its majestic beauty. Lunch will be served back on board the ship.
In the afternoon, the journey continues to the Amalia Glacier, where you’ll have a panoramic view from the ship. If conditions permit, there will be an opportunity to disembark, as this glacier is known for its constant movement, which has reshaped the surrounding beach and landscape. For a more immersive experience, you can take boat trips around the bay, offering different perspectives of this magnificent glacier.
Afterward, you’ll return to the ship to enjoy another delicious dinner on board. At midnight, the ship will depart southbound through the Pitt Channel.
The morning brings you to El Brujo Glacier (The Warlock). If weather and ice conditions are favorable, you can disembark to observe the glacier up close from a nearby rock, providing a unique and intimate experience with this natural wonder.
Following the visit, the ship will head towards the spectacular Calvo Fjord, where lunch will be served on board. At Calvo Fjord, you’ll embark on an excursion in the Capitán Constantino boat, designed specifically for navigating among the ice. This special trip will take you to explore several glaciers within the fjord, including Fernando, Capitán Constantino, and Alipio Glaciers, among others.
The evening is spent sailing towards the Mountains Fjord.
The day begins with a visit to the scenic Mountains Fjord, where four stunning glaciers can be observed descending from the Sarmiento Mountain Range into the sea, two of which are highlighted in the ship’s logbook. The first stop is at Alsina Glacier, where you’ll disembark in exploration boats to visit this small bay and marvel at the glacier’s beauty, framed by towering mountains.
After returning to the Skorpios III, the cruise continues through the fjord toward Bernal Glacier. Here, you’ll disembark for a hike through a small native forest, crossing a path to a glacial water lagoon. The hike continues over frontal and lateral moraines, leading you to the front of the glacier. This is a rare opportunity to touch some ice and observe a glacier in a receding phase, no longer reaching the sea.
Before lunch, passengers return to the ship, which takes on supplies of pure, natural water from a waterfall – the same water that is used onboard for all services. In the afternoon, the ship sails past the final glaciers of the trip, Herman and Zamudio Glaciers, before crossing the White Narrows in the late afternoon.
The evening concludes with a splendid Captain’s dinner and dance while navigating through Almirante Montt Gulf.
In the early morning, you’ll disembark from the Skorpios III at the Skorpios Terminal after the ship arrives in Puerto Natales during the night. This marks the end of your unforgettable journey through Patagonia’s stunning fjords and glaciers.
Other cruises in Patagonia:
You could consider as well the cruise from Ushuaia to Punta Arenas (or viceversa: Punta Arenas to Ushuaia Cruise). These cruises offer many disembarks, including -if weather allows- Cape Horn).
