Estancia Helsingfors to Estancia Cristina trek

After breakfast, take this day to enjoy a trek to Laguna de los Tres. This is the most “wanted” trek in El Chaltén. It leads to “de los Tres” lagoon, at the foot of the spectacular Fitz Roy Mount.

This is one of the most legendary hiking trails in El Chaltén. It leads to the Torre lagoon, at the foot of the Torre Mount, an impressive granite tower with an ice mushroom on the top. Along the way, you will pass by Mirador Margarita and Mirador del Torre. The trail goes through forests, rivers, an open valley, and slopes, to reach, finally, to the lagoon. The lagoon has erratic ice chunks floating around, which fall from the Glacier Torre, also part of the landscape.

In the morning, we will be picked up from our hotel by private transportation to embark on a picturesque journey across the steppe towards La Leona Parador.
As we travel along the southern side of Lake Viedma, we will be treated to exceptional views of the distant Cerro Fitz Roy. Our adventure continues until we reach Estancia Helsingfors, where we will be warmly welcomed by the hotel staff. The rooms will offer private bathrooms and showcase exquisite decoration.
In the afternoon, we can unwind and enjoy the cozy ambiance around a spacious fireplace in the living room, or indulge in a refreshing drink at the bar.
As the day draws to a close, we will be delighted with a selection of Argentine wines perfectly paired with sophisticated regional cuisine.

Following a hearty breakfast, we will depart from Estancia Helsingfors and commence our trek through a rugged and challenging terrain. Our destination is Seno Moyano, a region known for its inhospitable nature. With the guidance of our experienced guide, we will navigate through this remote area and embark on a journey of approximately 7 hours, covering a distance of 10 kilometers. Upon reaching Seno Moyano, we will work together to set up our camp, allowing us a well-deserved opportunity to rest and recharge for the adventures ahead.

Our journey will persist as we traverse through awe-inspiring landscapes adorned with lush greenery and abundant bushes. As we venture into the valley, we will be treated to breathtaking views of Cerro Norte, captivating us with its beauty.
This particular day poses the greatest challenge as the trail is unmarked, and we will encounter two significant elevation changes. Undeterred, we will press on, braving the demanding path for approximately 8 hours, covering a distance of 15 kilometers. Our tenacity will lead us to our camping site, situated roughly 200 meters past the moraine. Here, we will diligently set up our camp, providing us with a well-deserved respite to relish a delicious dinner and rejuvenate for the next leg of our adventure.

After breakfast, we will proceed to traverse a minor pass within the North River Canyon, granting us splendid vistas of Anita and Pearson lakes along the way. At the midway point, we will pause to enjoy our packed lunch. Our journey will persist until we reach our designated camping site near Río Norte. Here, we will diligently arrange our tents and take a well-deserved rest after a day of approximately 7 hours of hiking, covering a distance of 9 kilometers.

After breakfast, we embark on the briefest day of our trek. A leisurely walk through the valley for a few hours will lead us to the serene Lago Anita. At this point, a reliable 4×4 vehicle will be awaiting our arrival to transport us to Estancia Cristina, an enchanting destination brimming with Patagonian authenticity and rich historical significance.
Upon our arrival, we will settle into our accommodations and commence the planning of our activities for the upcoming day. In the evening, we will indulge in a delectable dinner, savoring the flavors of the region, before retiring for a well-deserved rest.

In the morning, our driver will pick us up in a robust 4×4 vehicle, initiating our expedition along the Feruglio Mountains. We will follow a route that leads us towards the Upsala Glacier lookout, affording us captivating vistas of Lago Guillermo, the eastern side of the Glaciar Upsala, and the sprawling expanse of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field.
Upon arrival at our destination, we will embark on a 14-kilometer hike through the captivating Fossil Canyon. This remarkable natural wonder, dating back approximately 170 million years, earned its name due to the extraordinary concentration of marine fossils scattered throughout the canyon. Among them, imprints of squid and jellyfish, remnants of the last ice age, can be discovered. As we traverse this terrain, we will be treated to a vibrant tapestry of colors, with the canyon walls majestically rising alongside us. Our descent will gradually lead us to a ravine at the valley’s edge. Along the way, we will pause to enjoy our box lunches, taking in the full exploration of the canyon before bidding it farewell and returning to the estancia.
To conclude our journey, we will navigate through the northern arm of Lago Argentino, ultimately arriving at Puerto Bandera, where a waiting vehicle will transport us back to our hotel in El Calafate city.

Full-day excursion to the impressive Glacier Perito Moreno. This ice colossal is located 1.30 hs western from El Calafate, in Los Glaciares National Park.

The idea is not only to visit its balconies but also to walk on top of the ice! Optionally, you could replace the mini trekking on the ice by kayaking near the Glacier.
