During this premium itinerary, we will visit some of the main attractions of Argentina, including Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls, part of the Northwest, El Calafate, and Ushuaia. Naturally, there are other destinations such as Bariloche, Mendoza, Peninsula Valdes, or Ibera Wetlands, that can also be included in your trip. The goal is to find the itinerary that adapts the best to your wishes and preferences.
Arrival at the airport in Buenos Aires and transfer to the hotel. Depending on the arrival time of your flight, we can organize a special activity.
Accommodation at your preferred hotel. It could be a luxury icon such as the Park Hyatt, or something more intimate like Jardín Escondido boutique hotel. It will also depend on the neighborhood you want to stay.
At an agreed-upon time, we’ll enjoy a private half day city tour visiting the main highlights of Buenos Aires. We’ll combine parts by walking and other parts with the car.
During the late afternoon, the idea is to fly over the city with a helicopter, having different perspectives of the “Reina del Plata”. If you come during November, the colors of the Jacaranda trees will delight you!
During the evening, we will attend a place called Fogón. Fogón is a kind of restaurant where the customers learn everything about the “Asado”. Asado is the Argentinean word for Barbeque, and as we make use of almost all the parts of the cow, you’ll learn not only the different cuts but also the ways to cook them on the grill. If you’re vegetarian or don’t like red meat, we can of course provide you with an alternative plan.
After breakfast, we will follow the Gaucho’s footprint in the outskirts of Buenos Aires. We’ll visit the village “San Antonio de Areco”, where the Gaucho’s tradition is seen in a fantastic way. We’ll stay most of the time in an Estancia (Ranch), with different activities (around horses and folkloric exhibitions) and a delicious meal.
In the evening, we will attend one of the most trendy and exclusive Tango shows in South America: Rojo Tango. We will also have dinner there.
After breakfast, we will go to the airport and then board a 2 hour flight to Puerto Iguazu. Today we will visit the Brazilian side of the falls, where are % 15-20 of the water jumps. From the Brazilian side are some of the most incredible panoramic views of the falls. As the cherry on the cake, we will fly over the Waterfalls in a helicopter.
Accommodation in Puerto Iguazu (Argentina), in a jungle lodge such as Awasi or Loi Suites.
We will dedicate this day to visit the Argentine side of the waterfalls, at Iguazu National Park. This is where most of the falls are located, with three main trails to walk through. The main balcony is the one that leads to the Devil’s Throat (probably the waterfall with more water flow in the world).
Overnight in Puerto Iguazu.
Transfer to the airport and flight to Salta. Arrival, reception, and transfer to the hotel.
During the afternoon we will visit the highlights of the city, including the impressive San Bernardo Hill.
Accommodation in a boutique hotel such as Kkala and Legado Mitico, or a ranch in the outskirts such as House of Jasmines.
Private excursion to the Humahuaca’s Gorge (Quebrada de Humahuaca). This gorge has been declared UNESCO site and is home to picturesque villages and colorful mountains. Among the main highlights, you’ll find Purmamarca (7 Colors Hill), Tilcara, and Humahuaca.
Accommodation in Purmamarca, at the hotel Manantial del Silencio or similar.
After breakfast, we’ll visit the Salt Fields. To do it, we’ll drive through the “Cuesta de Lipan”, a steep slope that ascends 2000 meters in just 17 km. Many times, you can see the clouds from above!
The Salt Fields (Salinas Grandes) will inspire us while we enjoy the immensity of the Altiplano. Return to Purmamarca and then back to Salta.
Optionally, you can opt for a longer way to go back to Salta, which is through the Altiplano (High Plateau). In this scenario, you will pass by San Antonio de los Cobres and descend to Salta through the road that runs next to the tracks of the “train to the clouds”.
Accommodation in Salta city.
We’ll take advantage of these two days to visit part of the Calchaquies Valley.
On day 9, we’ll ascend to the Altiplano one more time, but through the picturesque Cuesta del Obispo. After passing Los Cardones National Park, we’ll reach Cachi, an ancient village at the foot of the Andes. There, we plan to stay in a place such as La Merced del Alto.
On day 10, we plan to go from Cachi to Cafayate along the legendary Ruta 40, which goes across the Quebrada de las Flechas. Time to relax and enjoy in Cafayate, which is the wine capital of the north of Argentina. Suggested accommodation: Grace Cafayate.
On day 11 we’ll return to Salta city in the afternoon, driving along Quebrada de las Conchas.
Transfer to the airport and flight to El Calafate, via Buenos Aires. Arrival and transfer to Eolo, Relais & Chateau hotel in the middle of the steppe. There we’ll enjoy the luxury of the simple things, and get ready to the adventures to come in the land of Glaciers.
We’ll make use of these 3 nights to visit the Glacier Perito Moreno and other attractions of Los Glaciares National Park.
Eolo is located between El Calafate and Los Glaciares National Park, surrounded by 10,000 acres of steppe and hills, ideal for horseback riding and other activities. The hotel has 17 rooms with special views. When the sky is clear, from some areas you can even see the Towers of Paine in Chile!
The idea is that during one of the full days you visit the Glacier Perito Moreno, and on the other day you do another activity such as the excursion that leads to the Glaciers Upsala and/or Spegazzini.
Note:
You might also visit Torres del Paine or El Chalten during the day. However, it’s recommended to stay there (on each place) for at least 2 or 3 nights, since they are far from El Calafate and have plenty of things to offer.
Transfer to the airport and flight to Ushuaia, the last destination of our Argentina luxury tour.
Welcome to the End of the World, where you will enjoy the mountains and the sea, same as the typical geography of the region. During the afternoon, we’ll enjoy a navigation along the Beagle Channel on a Yacht, tasting some snacks, and visiting places such as the Lighthouse Les Éclaireurs and the Birds & Sea Lions islands.
Regarding the accommodation, the idea is to stay in a hotel such as Los Cauquenes, at the shores of the Beagle Channel, in a room with a fantastic view.
During the morning, we plan to visit the National Park Tierra del Fuego. This park gathers samples of most of the elements that make up the Fuegian ecosystem, such as bays, sea, lakes, rivers, forests, mountains, and peat. There is even a train that we can ride if we want to.
For the afternoon, a special adventure awaits us: we’ll fly in a helicopter from Ushuaia to Estancia Harberton (Ranch), having amazing views on the way, and cross then on a zodiac to an island full of penguins.
On the way in, we’ll fly over part of the Andes Mountains, seeing different attractions from above, and on the way out, next to the Beagle Channel. The Ranch Harberton is about 90 km from Ushuaia, and it’s the oldest one in Tierra del Fuego.
From Harberton we’ll cross on a zodiac to Isla Martillo, where we’ll walk for about 1 hour among penguins. An unforgettable experience!
Note: the excursion with the helicopter is subject to weather conditions, therefore, it’s important to have some flexibility with the schedule in order to make the best out of it. However, it’s also possible to reach Harberton Ranch by land.
There is plenty of things to do in Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego, therefore, the idea is that we can find out together which activity matches the best with your travel style.
For instance, we can visit the Lakes Fagnano & Escondido through an off-road experience, or explore Cape San Pablo and its lonely Lighthouse, or why not, to capture and fish your own spider crab at a fisherman’s village.
At an agreed-upon time, transfer to the airport, and flight back to Buenos Aires.
According to the schedule, we can organize activities either in Ushuaia or Buenos Aires.
Accommodation in the neighborhood and hotel of our preference.
Transfer to the airport and flight back home.
