Once the tour boat is far enough from the coast (about 1-2 miles), the Captain will stop the engine and the silence will give place to the sounds of the nature: penguins, cormorants, seagulls…while we wait for the encounter with the cetaceans. All of a sudden, the massive body of one or more Whales splashes in the sea and the show performed by the nature starts, with the participation of dolphins in many cases. The navigation lasts around one hour and one hour and a half.
* Although it is in general possible to encounter and observe whales, there is no guarantee that you will indeed see them. It is a natural phenomena that depends on factors beyond human control (weather conditions, time of the year, etc). The whale season stretches from June to December.
After the navigation, we will go to Rincon Chico Lodge, a traditional Patagonian ranch inside the Reserve. Time at leisure to enjoy the area, and in the evening dinner at the ranch.
The Patagonian cuisine, as the Argentinian in general, is special not only for the very well-known Asado or Empanadas (especially if they are accompanied by a glass of Red Wine on an Estancia!), but also for its variety of typical dishes made of different elements.
Particularly in Puerto Madryn and surroundings, the Patagonian lamb, the seafood and the Welsh Tea are the highlights of the local gastronomy, together with delicious tarts and sweets produced in the Welsh town “Gaiman”.
Every day, the fishing boats ensure fresh fish and seafood, ready to be enjoyed by those who want to have a typical gourmet experience.

Brenda Caizza of Beyond BA did an extraordinary job of making our vacation successful despite our knowing very little about Patagonia in general and Bariloche in particular. She identified an exceptional place to stay and knew just the right itineraries for outdoor activities including hiking, boating and white water rafting along with the best places to eat along the way. The guides she used were warm and friendly and accommodated our family’s various needs with ease. We would highly recommend a trip to Bariloche and would highly recommend using Brenda to arrange it.
